About the Work In the 1990s, Greg Montgomery began transitioning from traditional hand-pulled silkscreen techniques to a more digital process, reflecting advances in both technology and the demands of fine art publishing. As a designer with a deep understanding of color and form, Greg embraced digital tools like Adobe Illustrator to create his signature bold, clean compositions with even greater precision and flexibility. Using vector-based design programs, Greg builds up each layer of color digitally — similar to how he once layered inks in silkscreen — but now with the ability to experiment freely with scale, detail, and composition. This allows him to preserve his hallmark dynamic shapes, crisp lines, and vibrant negative space while working more efficiently than traditional methods.
